Celebrate St. Patricks Day the Irish Way JohnMartins Restaurant & Irish Pub Hosts Annual Celebration
Its that time of year again to bring in the Irish spirit and put on your favorite green attire. On Thursday, March 17, JohnMartins will host its 15th annual St. Patricks Day party beginning at 11:30 a.m. The daylong festivities will feature live music, Irish food and drink specials. "We enjoy bringing the community together for Miamis largest Irish celebration," said Martin Lynch, proprietor of JohnMartins. "The party attracts more than 5,000 people each year and will benefit the Parknership Program," he added. The public/private project is dedicated to the restoration of Coral Gables entrances. Festivities will begin in JohnMartins Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. with a traditional St. Patricks Day menu. There will be live entertainment playing Irish folk music in the restaurant starting at 7 p.m. The celebration continues with a street fair from 4 p.m. to midnight on Salzedo Street, between Miracle Mile and Aragon Avenue, which will be closed off in honor of St. Patricks Day. The street fair will feature American rock music beginning at 5 p.m. by "Kick the Cat" followed by Celtic rock band "Volunteers." Fish and chips, chicken tenders, corn beef sandwiches, burgers and hotdogs will be served along with beverages at the street fair. And what would a St. Patricks Day be without traditional Irish cuisine. The restaurant and pub menu will feature smoked salmon, Gaelic steak and Irish stuffed chicken. JohnMartins will also be serving Irish favorites all day including corned beef and cabbage, shepherds pie, fish and chips, bangers and mash, Irish potato soup, bread and butter pudding and sherry trifle for dessert. JohnMartins has been continually recognized for its cuisine by publications that voted the restaurant Best Pub Food. While the restaurant naturally includes some typical Irish dishes, their selection of entrees is extensive, ranging form typical American to Continental. The restaurant features live entertainment every weekend that ranges from Contemporary Top 40 hits to todays popular Irish ballads. One of the most popular programs is Sunday nights Acoustic Music Showcase in which the public is invited to play music and sing from 7:30 10 p.m. JohnMartins is located at 253 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. The restaurant features outside dining. Also, visit the Annual St. Patrick's Day Irish Festival hosted by the South Florida Emerald Society, Inc. on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Ponce Circle Park. |
